Ronnie's Midway Market - Home of the Giant Sandwich

The deli style sandwich discussion in Fresno can get heated. You got your Sam’s fans and then you got your Gino’s loyalists. The Sunnyside Deli fanatics are oil and vinegar wrestling with the Piedmonte hipsters. Then you have the Packing Shed suits that really screw everything up. Well, in the midst of this I heard from an East Coast transplant that “Ronnie’s Midway Market” on Blackstone just North of Herndon was Fresno’s best sandwich.

Thoughts on the Fresno Indie Scene: A Night with Light Thieves and Achievement House

The Music Scene in most American towns is something constantly evolving. Not only is the evolution of music and genres continuing to shape and lead culture but local factors also have a huge effect. Local bands, venues, gathering places, and residents themselves all move, change, die, survive, grow old or worse yet, get married. Many Cities have had their glory years but right now in Fresno, things feel like they are coming together.

Armageddon (Sweded)

Armageddon, everybody's second-favorite asteroid movie of the summer of 1998, has been in my mind as the perfect swede for a very long time.

It's big, dumb, stupid, and a lot of fun. In a nutshell: It IS Dead in 60 Years!

The 2nd Annual RoboRun - Coming Jan 16th

Wait a Minute: It's on!!!

The 2nd Annual Great Fresno RoboRun is happening the morning of Monday, January 16th, 2012! What better way to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day then to witness the madness as the Di60Y crew takes on the Girls of Atomic Assault Roller Derby and GloboGym's Purple Cobras in the runningest, eatingest, burritoest relay race of all time!

Di60y, Santa, and Jesus Christ Present - Pre-Xmas Drunken Music Time W/ Fierce Creatures and Pinkeye

When you think of Dead in 60 Years, I know what you think. You think of a group of drunken douches who deserve nothing but a giant lump of coal in their stockings for Christmas. Because we have sinned a lot this year, we're throwing a big charity benefit concert to make us feel better about ourselves!

When we host a show, we tend to do good things. We have some of the Valley's biggest bands:

  • Fierce Creatures (OMG BITCHES- heroes are remembered, but local legends never die)
  • Achievement House (Sultry hipster jam madness feat. Whitney Freeman)
  • The Quiet Americans ("quiet" but they are a band... get it)
  • Pinkeye (they may make your eyes itchy but will make your ears orgasm)

Oktoberfest 2011 - Yet Another Drunken Adventure

Oktoberfest 2011 – An outsider’s perspective:

I was excited to see the Oktoberfest video online yesterday. I saw an opportunity to live vicariously through my friends in order to escape the maleficent hand of grad school term papers and oppressive loneliness. After all, a year ago that was me, drinking my way through the oppressive Fresno heat one delicious brew at a time until I could barely walk, let alone search for the ever allusive drunkest sailor at the shit storm.

Now I was relegated to the side lines, to watch as Roger and Greg drink to their hearts content and/or their mother’s mini-vans. As I watched, I laughed, I cried and I reminisced, which ultimately resulted in a jealous rage-inspired suicide attempt… Anyways, this is a good one.

Breaking Dawn (Shirtless Edition)

Everyone who knows me knows I'm Team Jacob. Unabashedly, completely, creepily. I love the relationship that he has with Bella and I love seeing Taylor Lautner shirtless.

I had the idea to go shirtless for Breaking Dawn Part 1 many months ago, although I don't know how serious I really was. That changed when Greg started telling EVERYONE I was going to, so I felt I had to.
